Position Description
The Vice President (VP) Operations will provide leadership and direction to the operations group. He or she will drive organizational excellence and operational efficiency by ensuring that the necessary controls, procedures, and systems are in place. He or she with develop, implement, and oversee the continuous improvement of the company's operational policies, initiatives, and goals. He or she will be responsible for ensuring the implementation and execution of the departments long-term and short-term plans and directives.  Marine experience an asset.
  • Develops policies and procedures, in collaboration with the VP People and Culture & HSSE Manager, to ensure that employees are safe
  • Develops guiding departmental principals and goals for the Operations Department and assigns the goals to direct reports 
  • Develops, in collaboration with the VP People and Culture, annual objectives for all members of the Operations Department and develops the methodology for reviewing the performance of each employee
  • Develops the organizational structure of the Operations Department in collaboration with the VP People & Culture, President and COO
  • Defines roles and responsibilities for each position with the Operations Department
  • Identifies training needs, initiates developmental programs in collaboration with the VP People and Culture 
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, professional development, high performance and ethical behaviour
  • Develops a strategy and budget for testing and implementing new technologies and operational methodologies 
  • Measures effectiveness and efficiency of current operational processes and formulates ways to improve processes 
  • Develops processes that will assist in identifying ways to reduce costs, increase revenues, and improve overall company performance 
  • Develops an operating budget for the Operations Department in collaboration with the CFO
  • Develops and implements a plan for the continuous improvement of the facilities 
  • Develops and implements a plan for the continuous improvement of  equipment 
  • Collaborates with the CFO, VP Tendering and Commercial Director to analyze performance in order to refine pricing and contractual Terms and Conditions
  • Develops, in collaboration with the VP Tendering, the process for the handover, review and approval of project budgets, project schedules, manpower requirements, project material lists and project execution methodologies 
  • Develops the process for internal project kick-off meetings (i.e. meeting with  Project Managers and Supervisors) 
  • Develops the process for external (i.e. meeting with clients) project kick-off meetings 
  • Develops policies and procedures for internal project reporting (i.e. budgets, schedules, etc.) 
  • Develops policies and procedures for external project reporting (i.e. budgets, schedules, etc.)
  • Develops a QA/QC Department and establishes policies and procedures for the department to execute
